Gourmet Breakfast Sarmie
INGREDIENTS
STEP 1
Prep the Bread:
Slice the French loaf into sandwich-sized portions and lightly toast them in a pan or toaster for a crispy edge.
STEP 2
Cook the Bacon:
In a pan, fry the Steynsburg Pork bacon until crispy and golden. Set aside on a paper towel to drain excess fat.
STEP 3
Fry the Eggs:
In the same pan, crack in the eggs and cook to your liking (sunny-side up, over-easy, or scrambled). Sprinkle with salt and pepper.
STEP 4
Assemble the Sarmie:
Spread a generous layer of basil pesto on the bottom slice of the toasted French loaf.
STEP 5
Layer on the crispy bacon, followed by the sun-dried tomatoes.
Gently place the fried egg on top.
Add any extras like cheese or greens if desired.
Top with the other slice of bread.
STEP 6
6. Final Touch:
Optional: Lightly press the sandwich in a pan or sandwich press for a warm, melty finish.
