Bacon-Wrapped Shrimp & Scallops Platter

INGREDIENTS (Serves 4–6)

For the Bacon-Wrapped Shrimp:

  • 12 large shrimp (prawns), peeled & deveined 🍤
  • 6 slices Steynsburg Pork bacon, cut in half 🥓
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tbsp honey (for caramelization) 🍯
  • Toothpicks
  • For the Bacon-Wrapped

Scallops:

  • 12 large scallops 🦪
  • 6 slices bacon, cut in half
  • 1 tbsp butter, melted 🧈
  • 1 tsp lemon zest 🍋
  • 1/2 tsp sea salt
  • 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper (optional, for heat)
  • Toothpicks

For Garnish & Serving:

  • Fresh lemon wedges 🍋
  • Chopped parsley 🌿
  • Spicy mayo or garlic aioli for dipping

STEP 1

Prep the Shrimp & Scallops
Pat the shrimp and scallops dry with paper towels to ensure a crispy finish.

STEP 2

Wrap with Bacon
Wrap each shrimp and scallop with half a slice of bacon, securing with a toothpick.
Try not to overlap too much—this helps the bacon cook evenly!

STEP 3

Season & Flavor
Toss the shrimp with olive oil, garlic powder, paprika, black pepper, and honey.
Brush the scallops with melted butter, lemon zest, salt, and cayenne for a zesty kick.

STEP 4

Cook to Perfection
🔥 Oven Method:

Preheat oven to 200°C
Place bacon-wrapped shrimp & scallops on a lined baking tray.
Bake for 12–15 minutes, flipping halfway, until the bacon is crispy and shrimp/scallops are cooked through.
Broil for 1–2 minutes for extra crispiness!

🔥 Grill Method:

Heat grill to medium-high heat.
Grill for 3–4 minutes per side until bacon is crisp and shrimp/scallops are tender.

✅ Arrange shrimp & scallops on a large serving platter.
✅ Sprinkle with fresh chopped parsley. 🌿
✅ Serve with lemon wedges and a side of spicy mayo or garlic aioli for dipping.
